The Two-sided Coin
This message challenges us to examine what happens when we encounter Jesus Christ through a powerful metaphor of American currency. Just as a coin has two sides, spiritual and political, our response to Jesus leads us down one of two eternal paths. Drawing from 2 Corinthians 2-4, we explore how Christ leads us in a victorious procession where every former enemy becomes a soldier in His army. The sermon uses a sobering real-world example from Zimbabwe to illustrate how systems built on human equity without God ultimately collapse, reminding us that true transformation comes only through Christ. We are called to be the aroma of Christ, spreading the fragrance of His knowledge everywhere we go. Some will perceive this as the smell of death, others as the fragrance of life. The key insight is profound: the message doesn't change, Jesus doesn't change, but our acceptance or rejection determines our destiny. We carry this treasure in earthen vessels, and though we may be hard pressed, perplexed, persecuted, and struck down, we are never crushed, in despair, forsaken, or destroyed. Our inward person is being renewed day by day, and we are being transformed from glory to glory into His image.
